Narrative:

While cruising at FL370, ZJX gave us a crossing FL240 restr 40 NM south of florence, at the same time flight attendant 'a' entered the cockpit with some type of problem in the passenger cabin. I was distracted and did not verify. The crossing restr was set in the FMC correctly. Apparently the assigned altitude was not set correctly, resulting in flying by the 40 NM fix south of florence several thousand ft above FL240.
