Narrative:

While engaged on a practice ILS approach with radar vectors from den approach the aircraft's microphone switch was locked in the open position. I could not transmit or receive. While on the localizer outside the FAF a small black and white high-winged single engine aircraft passed from left to right, perpendicular to my flight path. When I attempted to contact approach I realized my microphone was stuck open. I then aborted the approach, flew outside of the class D airspace, and returned to my base avoiding controled airspace.
