Narrative:

Received ATC clearance via ACARS. Did not brief name of SID and due to similarities in loop 9 versus LAXX2 SID initial departure procedures, both crew members incorrectly assumed we were cleared on the most often flown departure, the LAXX2 SID. We realized our error when ATC cleared us '080 degree heading, direct lax VOR, resume loop 9 departure.' we verified paper work and advised controller we were supposed to be on loop 9. No conflict with other aircraft occurred. In future, will ensure the name of SID and initial departure procedure is part of before takeoff briefing.
