Narrative:

While taxiing in after landing at sdq (runway 17) txwys E5, south, E4 to gate xx (and never coming to a stop the entire way in) our aft cargo door warning light came on while on taxiway south (northbound between E5 and E4. The area along the taxiway is remote, unlit and not secure by law enforcement, as I found out later). Upon arrival at the gate our gate supervisor entered the cockpit and informed me that our aft cargo door was completely open and cargo net was hanging out. The supervisor told me that there had been several similar incidents in the prior couple of weeks involving several united states airline companies. I have contacted appropriate company officials about this, but I still find it unbelievable that these aircraft security violations have been happening at this airport involving united states carriers and nothing has been done to prevent it from happening. I now its extreme, but my aircraft could have been sabotaged in such a way that could of resulted in aircraft damage, injury to people on board and even loss of life. Why hasn't the FAA been notified and even the fbi? I asked these questions of my company officials. Please call me if I can be of further assistance. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide to rectify a potentially dangerous situation. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that he has learned quite a bit about the airport since the reported incident. As he was on the radio that night discussing the event with the tower, another air carrier was taxiing out for takeoff on runway 35. This aircraft reported that a pickup truck with ladders attached to its sides was along the side of the taxiway. The reporter says that 2 of the carriers have contracted through their ground services company for a guard vehicle to meet and escort the night arrs to the gate. There have been no incidents since this arrangement has begun.

I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE TO RECTIFY A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SIT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT HE HAS LEARNED QUITE A BIT ABOUT THE ARPT SINCE THE RPTED INCIDENT. AS HE WAS ON THE RADIO THAT NIGHT DISCUSSING THE EVENT WITH THE TWR, ANOTHER ACR WAS TAXIING OUT FOR TKOF ON RWY 35. THIS ACFT RPTED THAT A PICKUP TRUCK WITH LADDERS ATTACHED TO ITS SIDES WAS ALONG THE SIDE OF THE TXWY.
