Narrative:

After landing at mobile, al, I taxied to the gate. While following the marshaller's directions to continue taxi for parking at the gate, experience and intuition made me uneasy about going past the point where I sensed we should have stopped. Therefore I stopped taxiing the aircraft and, as I did, the left engine bumped a ground air conditioning cart slightly as aircraft came to a stop. The aircraft was on the lead-in line which had 3 marked stopping points. I think the problem arose because the marshaller wanted the aircraft to park on the wrong stop line. To prevent any future confusion, I think it would be advantageous to also paint the aircraft type by each stopping line at the gate.
