Narrative:
I lowered the plane off the jacks, carefully, having been thus distraction I forgot to check with any of the 4 radios in the hangar, which is my normal practice, when in any ways I contact, touch, etc, the ELT. So, I did what, until now, always happens to someone else. I pushed, bumped or elbowed/whacked the ELT switch into the 'on' position and then left the hangar without checking for an ELT signal. I'm embarrassed because although it was inadvertent, it was stupid. I sincerely hope I did not endanger anyone by my careless act. It will not happen again!
