Narrative:
Another mechanic and I flew from hillsboro down to creswell oregon to ferry an aircraft back up to hillsboro. We spent 3 hours on the ground doing maintenance to the aircraft that I was to ferry up. The other mechanic obtained a WX briefing prior to our departure in the 2 airplanes. He told me that it was marginal VFR but we would make it ok and it would clear up after the first half of our flight. I departed in VFR conditions but in about 10 min encountered lowering ceilings and visibility. I encountered freezing rain that stuck to the airplane. I felt the urge to get home because this flight was on a ferry permit and it would be a long way for someone to come pick me up. I followed a freeway home and was forced to go below 500 ft AGL a few times due to WX ceilings. The visibility remained between 1 and 3 mi. Next time I'll get my own WX briefing.
