Narrative:

On buj arrival to dfw, at turn to south to land north, given a turn to 280 degrees, descend to 9000 ft, start turn to 280 degrees and ask controller if we are going to west side. He says north heading should be 180 degrees, descend to 10000 ft, traffic at 9 O'clock. We advised we saw traffic and turned back to 180 degrees. All 3 crew members heard 280 degrees, none questioned the clearance. No conflict as we were visual and saw traffic.
