Narrative:

While on an IFR flight plan I was cleared direct to linden VOR then direct to har VOR at 21000 ft. I was alone in the aircraft and believed that I could relax and rest my eyes for a few moments while about 7 mi south of linden VOR. I didn't sleep for long but woke up to ATC calling me and found that I was 7 mi north of the VOR not having made the necessary turn towards har VOR. Although this did not cause a large problem I was not on course as cleared. The solution is to not intend to rest ones eyes until one is on the ground with the engines shut off.
