Narrative:

Problem -- flew a trip that was scheduled over 8 hours. My original trip was 'modified' by crew scheduling during the last leg of a 2-DAY trip. Discussed legal time elements with my original captain without the benefit of a copy of the new scheduled trip. I believed the trip was within the 8 hour requirement only to discover later that it was not legal. Had to rush to make the additional leg departure time. Was fatigued I should have thought more clearly through the whole situation.
