Narrative:

Near miss due to neither pilot seeing other aircraft. I was in a cessna 152, winds reported by AWOS were 320 at 4 KTS. My student and I entered and reported left downwind, mid-field for runway 9. Then a lear jet reported on crosswind runway 27 and stated winds favored runway 27. I then reported to traffic that I would use runway 27 and entered left crosswind thinking I saw the lear approximately 5 mi ahead turning downwind. There were 3 other aircraft southwest of the field, 1 of which I mistook for the lear. However it was there on crosswind that the lear overtook me to the left and lower, approximately 200-300 ft away. He said, after we were on the ground that he could not see me visually or with his TCASII. I never saw him until he was 200 or 300 ft away. It was hazy to the northwest. That may account for that. I don't know what could have helped avoid this situation other than an ATC control tower as we both made reports and had our heads outside the cockpit.

Title: SMA AND LTT HAVE NMAC WHILE ENTERING TFC PATTERN AT NON TWR ARPT.

Narrative: NEAR MISS DUE TO NEITHER PLT SEEING OTHER ACFT. I WAS IN A CESSNA 152, WINDS RPTED BY AWOS WERE 320 AT 4 KTS. MY STUDENT AND I ENTERED AND RPTED L DOWNWIND, MID-FIELD FOR RWY 9. THEN A LEAR JET RPTED ON XWIND RWY 27 AND STATED WINDS FAVORED RWY 27. I THEN RPTED TO TFC THAT I WOULD USE RWY 27 AND ENTERED L XWIND THINKING I SAW THE LEAR APPROX 5 MI AHEAD TURNING DOWNWIND. THERE WERE 3 OTHER ACFT SW OF THE FIELD, 1 OF WHICH I MISTOOK FOR THE LEAR. HOWEVER IT WAS THERE ON XWIND THAT THE LEAR OVERTOOK ME TO THE L AND LOWER, APPROX 200-300 FT AWAY. HE SAID, AFTER WE WERE ON THE GND THAT HE COULD NOT SEE ME VISUALLY OR WITH HIS TCASII. I NEVER SAW HIM UNTIL HE WAS 200 OR 300 FT AWAY. IT WAS HAZY TO THE NW. THAT MAY ACCOUNT FOR THAT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT COULD HAVE HELPED AVOID THIS SIT OTHER THAN AN ATC CTL TWR AS WE BOTH MADE RPTS AND HAD OUR HEADS OUTSIDE THE COCKPIT.
