Narrative:

After doing training maneuvers for approximately 1 hour, we returned to sfb to do touch and goes. After the first touch and go, we were climbing out and at approximately 700 ft AGL there was a loud 'pop' in the engine. Oil pressure was lost, but temperature remained normal and full power resulted in only 1800 RPM. We took off on runway 9L and I informed the controller of the problem and requested a landing on runway 18. He gave me priority and held traffic taking off and landing. It was later found that a cylinder head had blown causing the loss of engine power. I never declared an emergency and I should have instead of only requesting another runway.
