Narrative:

Flying into wrg I was informed by FSS that there was a deer inside the perimeter fence at psg (my next destination). On ground at wrg. Called company to see if this situation was ok. They said they would investigate and call back. They called back and said it was ok. I was still not satisfied, so called the next station (psg) and asked what was going on. They said there was a deer holed up in the woods inside the fence. The wooded areas inside the fence are not near the runway, but well outside near the perimeter fence. Flew to psg states worker in charge of airport told me as I approached the runway, that the runway was clear. Had airport on my side on downwind and final. No deer anywhere. Landed uneventfully. Talked to state worker on ground. Get more detailed location of deer. Deer was in a wooded area in a deep ravine. Due to local terrain, the airport is built up on top of a boggy soil base. The only direct access for the deer from the trees to the runway was in the ravine and then up a sheer rock wall that supported the runway. The state worker was not the usual airport manager, who was out hunting. I asked him on the ground if they would shoot the deer. He said probably. Fond out from state worker that deer was not shot until wed.

Title: POTENTIAL RWY INCURSION BY DEER INSIDE ARPT BOUNDARY.

Narrative: FLYING INTO WRG I WAS INFORMED BY FSS THAT THERE WAS A DEER INSIDE THE PERIMETER FENCE AT PSG (MY NEXT DEST). ON GND AT WRG. CALLED COMPANY TO SEE IF THIS SIT WAS OK. THE WOODED AREAS INSIDE THE FENCE ARE NOT NEAR THE RWY, BUT WELL OUTSIDE NEAR THE PERIMETER FENCE. FLEW TO PSG STATES WORKER IN CHARGE OF ARPT TOLD ME AS I APCHED THE RWY, THAT THE RWY WAS CLR. HAD ARPT ON MY SIDE ON DOWNWIND AND FINAL. NO DEER ANYWHERE. LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. TALKED TO STATE WORKER ON GND. GET MORE DETAILED LOCATION OF DEER. DEER WAS IN A WOODED AREA IN A DEEP RAVINE. DUE TO LCL TERRAIN, THE ARPT IS BUILT UP ON TOP OF A BOGGY SOIL BASE. THE ONLY DIRECT ACCESS FOR THE DEER FROM THE TREES TO THE RWY WAS IN THE RAVINE AND THEN UP A SHEER ROCK WALL THAT SUPPORTED THE RWY. THE STATE WORKER WAS NOT THE USUAL ARPT MGR, WHO WAS OUT HUNTING. I ASKED HIM ON THE GND IF THEY WOULD SHOOT THE DEER. HE SAID PROBABLY. FOND OUT FROM STATE WORKER THAT DEER WAS NOT SHOT UNTIL WED.
