Narrative:

At the approach end of runway 24 at pne is a ball field with stadium lights. Several pilots have complained about the lights 'blinding' them while on short final for runway 24. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the stadium lights are located on city property approximately 1/2 mi from runway 24 and have been in operation for about 1 yr. According to the reporter, the lights are left on after conclusion of a ball game. Complaints have been received by the reporter and other tower controllers in the last 6-8 months from pilots using the runway 24 approach. Reporter is aware that the tower manager has talked with the airport manager about the problem and that it will be discussed in future meetings in which the reporter will also attend.

Title: BALL FIELD STADIUM LIGHTS AFFECTING ARRS ON SHORT FINAL TO ARPT.

Narrative: AT THE APCH END OF RWY 24 AT PNE IS A BALL FIELD WITH STADIUM LIGHTS. SEVERAL PLTS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE LIGHTS 'BLINDING' THEM WHILE ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 24. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THE STADIUM LIGHTS ARE LOCATED ON CITY PROPERTY APPROX 1/2 MI FROM RWY 24 AND HAVE BEEN IN OP FOR ABOUT 1 YR. ACCORDING TO THE RPTR, THE LIGHTS ARE L ON AFTER CONCLUSION OF A BALL GAME. COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED BY THE RPTR AND OTHER TWR CTLRS IN THE LAST 6-8 MONTHS FROM PLTS USING THE RWY 24 APCH. RPTR IS AWARE THAT THE TWR MGR HAS TALKED WITH THE ARPT MGR ABOUT THE PROB AND THAT IT WILL BE DISCUSSED IN FUTURE MEETINGS IN WHICH THE RPTR WILL ALSO ATTEND.
