Narrative:

I was practicing soft field lndgs and was on a downwind, and reported to the tower that I was on downwind for a touch and go, then the tower called and said to cut short and land long (there was another plane inbound for landing). I was at the point of slowing down to put the flaps down when the tower called. I took my eyes off air speed to look for other traffic. I cut short on base to land and failed to put the gear down. I looked for traffic and called tower that I did not see traffic. Tower said I was cleared to land, turned on final and landed with gear up. The tower got me out of my normal routine. I felt the tower knew I was a pilot in training, and should have seen the gear was not down, and notified me, knowing that the tower got me out of my normal course of landing. I did not hear the gear horn go off.

I LOOKED FOR TFC AND CALLED TWR THAT I DID NOT SEE TFC. TWR SAID I WAS CLRED TO LAND, TURNED ON FINAL AND LANDED WITH GEAR UP. THE TWR GOT ME OUT OF MY NORMAL ROUTINE.
