Narrative:

Cruising at FL190 entered area of icing (light rime). Requested a lower altitude. Was denied lower altitude due to traffic below. Requested lower altitude again and advised ATC I was picking up ice. They denied my request again. Told ATC I needed lower due to ice (now severe). Request denied. Requested level altitude again. They gave a turn to 360 degrees (from 120 degrees). Back into ice! I turned to 360 degrees and told ATC I was starting down. Aircraft had lost 40 KTS and was at 120 KTS indicated blue line is 111. 2 mins later ATC clears me direct tol at 14000 ft.
