Narrative:

Missed crossing altitude. We were given a crossing altitude of 30 south of kokomo, okk, when we were approximately 95 south of okk. It was read back and entered in the altitude window. The first officer was flying and verified the altitude as set. Several mins prior to the crossing restr, the first flight attendant came into the cockpit asking about WX and arrival time. This distracted both of us. At 31.5 mi from okk, ZID cleared us to FL280. At that point, we both realized our error. We quickly descended to FL280, arriving there 3 mi late. There were no conflicts. The distraction of the #1 and also receiving the clearance 65 mi prior to the restr contributed to the error, but it was still our error for not complying with the clearance. The time was XX52Z and the ZID frequency was XXX.xx. The clearance was 30 south of okk at FL280. We were at FL310.

Title: MLG MISSES ALT XING RESTR.

Narrative: MISSED XING ALT. WE WERE GIVEN A XING ALT OF 30 S OF KOKOMO, OKK, WHEN WE WERE APPROX 95 S OF OKK. IT WAS READ BACK AND ENTERED IN THE ALT WINDOW. AT 31.5 MI FROM OKK, ZID CLRED US TO FL280. AT THAT POINT, WE BOTH REALIZED OUR ERROR. WE QUICKLY DSNDED TO FL280, ARRIVING THERE 3 MI LATE. THERE WERE NO CONFLICTS. THE DISTR OF THE #1 AND ALSO RECEIVING THE CLRNC 65 MI PRIOR TO THE RESTR CONTRIBUTED TO THE ERROR, BUT IT WAS STILL OUR ERROR FOR NOT COMPLYING WITH THE CLRNC. THE TIME WAS XX52Z AND THE ZID FREQ WAS XXX.XX. THE CLRNC WAS 30 S OF OKK AT FL280. WE WERE AT FL310.
