Narrative:

While on approach a preceding aircraft advised of a speed increase of 20 KTS at 500 ft AGL. There were no field windshear alerts or microburst alerts. We elected to continue the approach, but instituted windshear procedures. We experienced windshear but at 500 ft AGL, we were stabilized on GS and within 5 KTS of approach speed. Touchdown and rollout were normal. I took control of the aircraft (first officer flying) and turned off runway 26L at C-3. We were instructed to hold short of runway 26R at C-3 for landing traffic. As I came to a stop on C-3 prior to runway 26R, the brakes began to chatter and the aircraft shuddered when coming to a complete stop. I directed first officer to inform ramp tower of this so that the mechanics would use caution when inspecting the brakes at the gate. Parking was uneventful, however, it appeared the mechanics did not get the message. We opened a cockpit window and told them of our problem verbally. We finished the parking checklist and the passenger agent began deplaning the passenger. It seemed 2-3 mins had gone by since parking when one of the mechanics yelled up to us to call the fire department. Meanwhile, he grabbed a fire extinguisher on the ramp and headed toward our left main landing gear. After calling the fire department, we shut down all aircraft power and began to evacuate the remaining approximately 1/3 of the passenger through door L-1 into the jetway. When all passenger and crew had been safely deplaned, I looked out the jetway window and saw the mechanics and later the fire department extinguishing what appeared to be hot brakes on the left side of the aircraft. Within mins the fuse plugs let go and both left main gear tires deflated. I was later informed by a mechanic that hydraulic fluid had gotten onto the hot brakes which made the problem worse. I informed dispatch.

Title: AFTER NORMAL LNDG AND CLR OF RWY THE BRAKES CHATTERED AND L BRAKES OVERHEATED AT GATE.

AS I CAME TO A STOP ON C-3 PRIOR TO RWY 26R, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO CHATTER AND THE ACFT SHUDDERED WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. I DIRECTED FO TO INFORM RAMP TWR OF THIS SO THAT THE MECHS WOULD USE CAUTION WHEN INSPECTING THE BRAKES AT THE GATE. PARKING WAS UNEVENTFUL, HOWEVER, IT APPEARED THE MECHS DID NOT GET THE MESSAGE. WE OPENED A COCKPIT WINDOW AND TOLD THEM OF OUR PROB VERBALLY. WE FINISHED THE PARKING CHKLIST AND THE PAX AGENT BEGAN DEPLANING THE PAX. IT SEEMED 2-3 MINS HAD GONE BY SINCE PARKING WHEN ONE OF THE MECHS YELLED UP TO US TO CALL THE FIRE DEPT. MEANWHILE, HE GRABBED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER ON THE RAMP AND HEADED TOWARD OUR L MAIN LNDG GEAR. AFTER CALLING THE FIRE DEPT, WE SHUT DOWN ALL ACFT PWR AND BEGAN TO EVACUATE THE REMAINING APPROX 1/3 OF THE PAX THROUGH DOOR L-1 INTO THE JETWAY. WHEN ALL PAX AND CREW HAD BEEN SAFELY DEPLANED, I LOOKED OUT THE JETWAY WINDOW AND SAW THE MECHS AND LATER THE FIRE DEPT EXTINGUISHING WHAT APPEARED TO BE HOT BRAKES ON THE L SIDE OF THE ACFT. WITHIN MINS THE FUSE PLUGS LET GO AND BOTH L MAIN GEAR TIRES DEFLATED. I WAS LATER INFORMED BY A MECH THAT HYD FLUID HAD GOTTEN ONTO THE HOT BRAKES WHICH MADE THE PROB WORSE. I INFORMED DISPATCH.
