Narrative:

The trip was from crp-sat-pdk-phf with a quick turn at each stop on a lear 25. On arrival and taxi at sat, the PF monitored ground control. I went to clearance delivery and copied outbound clearance and then immediately back to ground and finished running checklist. The PF did not hear the clearance. During the fueling, etc, I set the radios. We were all set to go, including sandwiches, for the flight to atlanta. Everything being set, we failed to brief the clearance during outbound taxi. The PF had filed the alamo 2 departure to eagle lake direct la grange on the mikee arrival for pdk. We were cleared the alamo 2 via the lufkin transition direct to la grange. We were mi past ela VOR going direct la grange out of FL410 for FL450 when ZHU asked if we were going to lfk. This is when I briefed PF on the clearance. He immediately told ZHU the situation and obtained clearance direct la grange. I remember the PF questioning the clearance as we neared ela. I was eating lunch (certainly no excuse) and it did not register with me what he was saying. He stated that he was surprised we were cleared direct lgc out of ela. I made no comment. A bad day for me. We plan to both listen to the clearance from now on and to give better pre- takeoff briefs. Also, I realize that I should have caught this during climb to ela. Supplemental information from acn 278112 : everybody makes mistakes and until now I have always split the 'blame' 50/50 with the other crew member. However, on this one I'll only accept 10 percent of the 'blame.' corrective action -- we have revised our SOP. Before engine start, the crew member who copied the clearance (usually the first officer) will physically give the other crew member the written clearance copy and have him brief the person who copied. One guy copies, the other briefs him back from that copy. If any rertes are given during taxi- out, both crew members will hear them but the same copy, briefed by other crew member from the written copy will be followed.

Narrative: THE TRIP WAS FROM CRP-SAT-PDK-PHF WITH A QUICK TURN AT EACH STOP ON A LEAR 25. ON ARR AND TAXI AT SAT, THE PF MONITORED GND CTL. I WENT TO CLRNC DELIVERY AND COPIED OUTBOUND CLRNC AND THEN IMMEDIATELY BACK TO GND AND FINISHED RUNNING CHKLIST. THE PF DID NOT HEAR THE CLRNC. DURING THE FUELING, ETC, I SET THE RADIOS. WE WERE ALL SET TO GO, INCLUDING SANDWICHES, FOR THE FLT TO ATLANTA. EVERYTHING BEING SET, WE FAILED TO BRIEF THE CLRNC DURING OUTBOUND TAXI. THE PF HAD FILED THE ALAMO 2 DEP TO EAGLE LAKE DIRECT LA GRANGE ON THE MIKEE ARR FOR PDK. WE WERE CLRED THE ALAMO 2 VIA THE LUFKIN TRANSITION DIRECT TO LA GRANGE. WE WERE MI PAST ELA VOR GOING DIRECT LA GRANGE OUT OF FL410 FOR FL450 WHEN ZHU ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO LFK. THIS IS WHEN I BRIEFED PF ON THE CLRNC. HE IMMEDIATELY TOLD ZHU THE SIT AND OBTAINED CLRNC DIRECT LA GRANGE. I REMEMBER THE PF QUESTIONING THE CLRNC AS WE NEARED ELA. I WAS EATING LUNCH (CERTAINLY NO EXCUSE) AND IT DID NOT REGISTER WITH ME WHAT HE WAS SAYING. HE STATED THAT HE WAS SURPRISED WE WERE CLRED DIRECT LGC OUT OF ELA. I MADE NO COMMENT. A BAD DAY FOR ME. WE PLAN TO BOTH LISTEN TO THE CLRNC FROM NOW ON AND TO GIVE BETTER PRE- TKOF BRIEFS. ALSO, I REALIZE THAT I SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THIS DURING CLB TO ELA. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 278112 : EVERYBODY MAKES MISTAKES AND UNTIL NOW I HAVE ALWAYS SPLIT THE 'BLAME' 50/50 WITH THE OTHER CREW MEMBER. HOWEVER, ON THIS ONE I'LL ONLY ACCEPT 10 PERCENT OF THE 'BLAME.' CORRECTIVE ACTION -- WE HAVE REVISED OUR SOP. BEFORE ENG START, THE CREW MEMBER WHO COPIED THE CLRNC (USUALLY THE FO) WILL PHYSICALLY GIVE THE OTHER CREW MEMBER THE WRITTEN CLRNC COPY AND HAVE HIM BRIEF THE PERSON WHO COPIED.
