Narrative:

After takeoff, first officer had to use override switch to raise the gear. Takeoff WX was 100 and 1. Air/ground sensing switch had not worked. After running all procedures and talking to maintenance, we continued and climbed to FL370. Pack cooling turbo fans overheated because they were still on since aircraft thought it was on ground. They caused smoke in cabin. We ran smoke removal checklist and then diverted to dfw. Our book procedures at airline X did not cover this problem well. It did not even tell us all of the system that were affected by the air/ground sensor. I'm working with my chief pilot to correct this.
