Narrative:

On departure from ord being vectored to petty and cleared to FL140. A lear jet in front of us was cleared to FL130. It appeared that the lear jet was climbing faster than we were and actually climbed to our altitude. Around FL130 we got a TCASII RA to monitor vertical climb -- then we got a descent command. I disconnected the autoplt and started to follow the commands when my copilot told me not to descend but instead to continue climbing to avoid the lear jet. Without visual contact we may have hit the lear jet if we had followed TCASII.
