Narrative:

Emergency nose gear fail to retract. After normal takeoff from lga, nose gear failed to retract. Gear handle would only come up 1/2 way. Pushed the gear handle retract button and the handle went to the full up position but the nose gear remained down and locked and the mains retracted. Put the gear handle down. All gear indicated down and locked. Declared emergency. Returned to lga. Approach and landing were normal. Landed overweight at 135.9. Landing was smooth. No further problems. Terminated emergency.

Title: MLG NOSE GEAR FAILED TO RETRACT AND FLC DECLARED AN EMER AND RETURNED TO LAND.

Narrative: EMER NOSE GEAR FAIL TO RETRACT. AFTER NORMAL TKOF FROM LGA, NOSE GEAR FAILED TO RETRACT. GEAR HANDLE WOULD ONLY COME UP 1/2 WAY. PUSHED THE GEAR HANDLE RETRACT BUTTON AND THE HANDLE WENT TO THE FULL UP POS BUT THE NOSE GEAR REMAINED DOWN AND LOCKED AND THE MAINS RETRACTED. PUT THE GEAR HANDLE DOWN. ALL GEAR INDICATED DOWN AND LOCKED. DECLARED EMER. RETURNED TO LGA. APCH AND LNDG WERE NORMAL. LANDED OVERWT AT 135.9. LNDG WAS SMOOTH. NO FURTHER PROBS. TERMINATED EMER.
