Narrative:
Did not request ATC clearance via data link prior to takeoff. Received clearance 1 min after takeoff via data link after departure controller advised us to reset transponder code. Conference with maintenance personnel in cockpit broke normal preflight routine. Suggest adding transponder code to before start checklist or reading back transponder code to clearance delivery along with ATIS identify.

Narrative: DID NOT REQUEST ATC CLRNC VIA DATA LINK PRIOR TO TKOF. RECEIVED CLRNC 1 MIN AFTER TKOF VIA DATA LINK AFTER DEP CTLR ADVISED US TO RESET XPONDER CODE. CONFERENCE WITH MAINT PERSONNEL IN COCKPIT BROKE NORMAL PREFLT ROUTINE. SUGGEST ADDING XPONDER CODE TO BEFORE START CHKLIST OR READING BACK XPONDER CODE TO CLRNC DELIVERY ALONG WITH ATIS IDENT.
