Narrative:

This is a safety related report only. Normal VFR runway 31 stadium visual approach dfw. At the final approach fix, I went to tower frequency but I had mistakenly dialed in 127.55 instead of 127.50. Meanwhile, I was dialing in dfw ground frequency over the old approach frequency on the same radio. Of course, no contact with tower. I checked the approach plate for the correct runway 31R tower frequency -- nothing even close published. I went to 126.55, east runway frequency, but could not get a word in due frequency congestion. Redialed in old approach frequency that I somehow remembered. Got the correct 127.5 frequency, dialed that in and got contact and landing clearance at about 300 ft. Captain was just initiating go around when clearance was received. Landed ok. Then on ground, was told to use ground frequency 134.05. That frequency isn't published either but it is used often. These frequencys should be published. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: dfw tower uses up 6 frequencys for local control and 4 for ground control. Only 2 frequencys of each category are published. In 'busy' times, 4 local and 3 ground frequencys are used. Only the published 2 frequencys of each category are used in 'normal' traffic sits.

Title: AN ACR MLG CREW FOUND SOME FREQS IN USE THAT ARE NOT PUBLISHED FOR FLC EYES.

Narrative: THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED RPT ONLY. NORMAL VFR RWY 31 STADIUM VISUAL APCH DFW. AT THE FINAL APCH FIX, I WENT TO TWR FREQ BUT I HAD MISTAKENLY DIALED IN 127.55 INSTEAD OF 127.50. MEANWHILE, I WAS DIALING IN DFW GND FREQ OVER THE OLD APCH FREQ ON THE SAME RADIO. OF COURSE, NO CONTACT WITH TWR. I CHKED THE APCH PLATE FOR THE CORRECT RWY 31R TWR FREQ -- NOTHING EVEN CLOSE PUBLISHED. I WENT TO 126.55, E RWY FREQ, BUT COULD NOT GET A WORD IN DUE FREQ CONGESTION. REDIALED IN OLD APCH FREQ THAT I SOMEHOW REMEMBERED. GOT THE CORRECT 127.5 FREQ, DIALED THAT IN AND GOT CONTACT AND LNDG CLRNC AT ABOUT 300 FT. CAPT WAS JUST INITIATING GAR WHEN CLRNC WAS RECEIVED. LANDED OK. THEN ON GND, WAS TOLD TO USE GND FREQ 134.05. THAT FREQ ISN'T PUBLISHED EITHER BUT IT IS USED OFTEN. THESE FREQS SHOULD BE PUBLISHED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: DFW TWR USES UP 6 FREQS FOR LCL CTL AND 4 FOR GND CTL. ONLY 2 FREQS OF EACH CATEGORY ARE PUBLISHED. IN 'BUSY' TIMES, 4 LCL AND 3 GND FREQS ARE USED. ONLY THE PUBLISHED 2 FREQS OF EACH CATEGORY ARE USED IN 'NORMAL' TFC SITS.
