Narrative:

While sbound on A-300 south of champ intersection I heard aircraft on frequency talking about WX between krart and ender intxns and request deviation of WX. Therefore, when I noted WX on radar prior to ender, I requested a west deviation to avoid the WX ahead on A-300. My request was via ny radio on 6577 usb. My first request was plus/minus 15 mins prior to needed deviation. At plus/minus 10 mins prior to the WX, I called ny radio and asked about my clearance to deviation. He said he had not heard but that he would put in another request. When no word was received and prior to WX, I called ny radio and advised them I was exercising my captain's emergency authority to deviation 10 mi west of A-300. I also broadcast in the blind on 121.5 and 130.55 of my intentions (no aircraft on TCASII 30 mi range). After clear of WX and beginning turn to intercept A-300, I received clearance to deviation. Other than using my emergency authority, the trip was routine. The aircraft was in the clear during the diversion and well clear of thunderstorm near ender.
