Narrative:

Normal takeoff from mco. On climb out, first officer (PF) called for 'gear up' and I selected same. The 3 'in transit' lights illuminated as the gear cycled, and the normal sound was heard as the gear settled into the wheel wells. The left main and noise 'in transit' lights extinguished, but the right main light stayed on. I pointed the situation out to the first officer, and with his concurrence, I recycled the gear several times with no change to the anomaly. We advised ATC that we would need to return with the specifics of the non- emergency situation. We also called company operations to discuss the situation with a mechanic, and they only recommended checking items that we had already checked. We flew a normal box pattern as vectored by ATC. When the gear was selected down, all indications were normal (3 green 'down' lights) and tower verified 3 extended gear visually with binoculars. Landing was normal and taxi-in was uneventful. Mechanics inspected the aircraft and found a broken metal plate that would normally depress a microswitch in the right wheel well -- confirming 'gear up.' this exercise proved that our training (both procedurally and with cockpit resource management) worked well to help mitigate this abnormality smoothly, with no additional problems.

Title: FLC OF AN ATX LTT RETURNED TO LAND AFTER THE R MAIN LNDG GEAR DID NOT INDICATE LOCKED IN THE UP POS AFTER RETRACTION.

Narrative: NORMAL TKOF FROM MCO. ON CLBOUT, FO (PF) CALLED FOR 'GEAR UP' AND I SELECTED SAME. THE 3 'IN TRANSIT' LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS THE GEAR CYCLED, AND THE NORMAL SOUND WAS HEARD AS THE GEAR SETTLED INTO THE WHEEL WELLS. THE L MAIN AND NOISE 'IN TRANSIT' LIGHTS EXTINGUISHED, BUT THE R MAIN LIGHT STAYED ON. I POINTED THE SIT OUT TO THE FO, AND WITH HIS CONCURRENCE, I RECYCLED THE GEAR SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO CHANGE TO THE ANOMALY. WE ADVISED ATC THAT WE WOULD NEED TO RETURN WITH THE SPECIFICS OF THE NON- EMER SIT. WE ALSO CALLED COMPANY OPS TO DISCUSS THE SIT WITH A MECH, AND THEY ONLY RECOMMENDED CHKING ITEMS THAT WE HAD ALREADY CHKED. WE FLEW A NORMAL BOX PATTERN AS VECTORED BY ATC.
