Narrative:

At cruise 40 mi out of pit I (captain) was off the radio and advised first officer (non flying). I made a cabin announcement during which time ZOB gave crossing restr over grace intersection at 6000 ft. First officer failed to advise me of crossing restr when I was done with cabin PA. We crossed grace at 8000 ft and were advised by cleveland to contact pit approach. First officer has 2 months experience with airline. This could be corrected with better captain/first officer communication.
