Narrative:

On approach to bwi from the northwest, approach cleared us for VFR approach to runway 33L. We were late in running checklist and first officer had his head in cockpit. On downwind, I had the airport and entered a base for runway 28 instead of runway 33L. I had the ILS dialed in but ignored it. TCASII alerted us to a small aircraft to our right turning base to final thinking I was aligned with 33L, I felt he was going to 33R. In reality, I was lined up with runway 28 and he was turning final for 28 also. When I saw him converging with us, I initiated a go around to the left and re-entered a left base for 33L. With the TCASII yelling at us, tower kept asking the light aircraft if he had us in sight, and I believe (tower) cleared us to land on runway 28 when they realized what had happened. After landing, I talked with tower and they said everyone was safe and that as far as they were concerned, it was over. All I can say is I sure learned from it.

Title: MLG HAS NMAC WITH SMA ON APCH.

Narrative: ON APCH TO BWI FROM THE NW, APCH CLRED US FOR VFR APCH TO RWY 33L. WE WERE LATE IN RUNNING CHKLIST AND FO HAD HIS HEAD IN COCKPIT. ON DOWNWIND, I HAD THE ARPT AND ENTERED A BASE FOR RWY 28 INSTEAD OF RWY 33L. I HAD THE ILS DIALED IN BUT IGNORED IT. TCASII ALERTED US TO A SMALL ACFT TO OUR R TURNING BASE TO FINAL THINKING I WAS ALIGNED WITH 33L, I FELT HE WAS GOING TO 33R. IN REALITY, I WAS LINED UP WITH RWY 28 AND HE WAS TURNING FINAL FOR 28 ALSO. WHEN I SAW HIM CONVERGING WITH US, I INITIATED A GAR TO THE L AND RE-ENTERED A L BASE FOR 33L. WITH THE TCASII YELLING AT US, TWR KEPT ASKING THE LIGHT ACFT IF HE HAD US IN SIGHT, AND I BELIEVE (TWR) CLRED US TO LAND ON RWY 28 WHEN THEY REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. AFTER LNDG, I TALKED WITH TWR AND THEY SAID EVERYONE WAS SAFE AND THAT AS FAR AS THEY WERE CONCERNED, IT WAS OVER. ALL I CAN SAY IS I SURE LEARNED FROM IT.
