Narrative:

Unable normal flap extension. When attempting initial flap extension descending for landing at denver airport, we got constant amber trailing edge flap light: with icas message 'trailing edge flap disagreement' annunciation. Alternate flap extension procedure for above problem accomplished, requiring 20 degree flap landing versus normal 30 degree setting. Asked ATC at den for longest runway 35R into wind (010 degrees at 16 KTS) as back-up for alternate flap landing. Briefed flight attendants to be alert during landing, but no evacuate/evacuation preparation needed in order to unduly alarm passenger since a normal landing was anticipated. Den tower granted landing on 35R and told us they requested equipment standing by. We did not declare an emergency nor ask for equipment -- only an alternate runway. The landing and taxi in was normal. Mechanics found bad flap module lockout - fixed and departed 1 hour late in the same airplane.

Title: B-757 EXPERIENCES A TRAILING EDGE FLAP ACFT EQUIP PROB MALFUNCTION.

Narrative: UNABLE NORMAL FLAP EXTENSION. WHEN ATTEMPTING INITIAL FLAP EXTENSION DSNDING FOR LNDG AT DENVER ARPT, WE GOT CONSTANT AMBER TRAILING EDGE FLAP LIGHT: WITH ICAS MESSAGE 'TRAILING EDGE FLAP DISAGREEMENT' ANNUNCIATION. ALTERNATE FLAP EXTENSION PROC FOR ABOVE PROB ACCOMPLISHED, REQUIRING 20 DEG FLAP LNDG VERSUS NORMAL 30 DEG SETTING. ASKED ATC AT DEN FOR LONGEST RWY 35R INTO WIND (010 DEGS AT 16 KTS) AS BACK-UP FOR ALTERNATE FLAP LNDG. BRIEFED FLT ATTENDANTS TO BE ALERT DURING LNDG, BUT NO EVAC PREPARATION NEEDED IN ORDER TO UNDULY ALARM PAX SINCE A NORMAL LNDG WAS ANTICIPATED. DEN TWR GRANTED LNDG ON 35R AND TOLD US THEY REQUESTED EQUIP STANDING BY. WE DID NOT DECLARE AN EMER NOR ASK FOR EQUIP -- ONLY AN ALTERNATE RWY. THE LNDG AND TAXI IN WAS NORMAL. MECHS FOUND BAD FLAP MODULE LOCKOUT - FIXED AND DEPARTED 1 HR LATE IN THE SAME AIRPLANE.
