Narrative:

I was the co-pilot on flight from lax to jfk. On descent into jfk, we experience a loss of dc bus 2. I was flying the aircraft and flight engineer conducted the abnormal procedure. In consultation with captain and in accordance with the dc-10 flight manual. We were unable to regain the lost bus and proceeded to jfk with the knowledge that, among other things, our gear would have to be visually checked. We informed ATC and delayed the approach until the engineer had visually checked the gear down and locked. ATC informed us that the crash crew had been called out, although we did not request it. And since they were already on site, ATC decided to leave them in place until the landing had been completed. The landing was uneventful and we proceeded to the gate and the discrepancy was entered. The incident was handled professionally and in full accordance with published procedures.
