Narrative:

While climbing to cruise for a flight from lwm to bed, I encountered IMC at approximately 1000 ft. (Forecasts predicted higher ceilings.) I decided to air-file an IFR flight plan through bos. Unfortunately, I was too low for radar contact. The controller had me squawk 7700 until he could get me on radar and clear me for IFR flight. I am qualified and current (icc one week ago), so had no problem once I was in the system. Moral: if IFR qualified, file regardless of the WX.
