Narrative:

At XA30 I was cleared into restr area, R5601C and R5601D. I was flying a fire reconnaissance mission for the usfs for about 1.5 hours. When I left to depart R5601D and contacted approach, they reported both R5601C and 5601D were active and at XA45, when I changed to the forest service frequency, that my clearance was canceled, yet I still was told to remain on my given transponder code. Since I was operating in R5601D and monitoring ft. Sill approach, I assumed they would tell me when they became active. Instead, I found that, by the time they radar identified me, I was sbound in R5601C which was active.
