Narrative:

Was assigned 7000 ft cruise (had requested 6000 ft). It was clear below 5000 ft. Tops about 8000 ft (estimated). Was flying into and out of clouds. First few entries -- no icing. One cloud I flew into had snow that attached to windshield -- further flight might have resulted in significant ice formation. Requested and immediately received 5000 ft. Was clear of clouds and ice. Result only a trace of ice on wing. Being observant of potential problem and taking immediate action prevented potential problem.
