Narrative:

Phl ground cleared us to taxi from spot 2 straight ahead on tango to hold short of runway 27R. We stopped about 10 ft short of the hold line and set the parking brakes as there was an air carrier dc-9-30 on short final. We did not hear the tower clearance to the air carrier jet, but ground told us to pass behind him after he made 2 right turns and for us to cross the runway. We did not move and realized he would exit at tango. Before we could comment, he turned off at tango and we were nose to nose. By now, air carrier was on ground control and asked if we could power back so he could get by. We couldn't do that since we did not have a ground crew. By this time, ground control sounded irritated and asked air carrier to taxi around us. While the taxiway was clear and dry, there was hard-packed snow and ice over 12 inches high on either side. He asked ground if he was to go through the snow. I don't recall ground's response, but air carrier proceeded to pass us on the left and his aircraft became stuck in the snow. It took over 20 mins before ground crews were escorted out to help remedy the situation. With wing walkers, we were able to taxi out. This situation was totally avoidable. It appears ATC made an error in clearing the air carrier jet to exit at an occupied taxiway. In either case, the clearance should not have been accepted. Then to pass us on a taxiway wide enough for only 1 aircraft made no sense at all. Supplemental information from acn 264342: the ground controller then cleared us to cross runway 27R/9L after a dc-9 who would make 2 right turns after landing.

Title: 2 MLGS TAXI NOSE TO NOSE AND ONE GETS STUCK IN THE SNOW.

Narrative: PHL GND CLRED US TO TAXI FROM SPOT 2 STRAIGHT AHEAD ON TANGO TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 27R. WE STOPPED ABOUT 10 FT SHORT OF THE HOLD LINE AND SET THE PARKING BRAKES AS THERE WAS AN ACR DC-9-30 ON SHORT FINAL. WE DID NOT HEAR THE TWR CLRNC TO THE ACR JET, BUT GND TOLD US TO PASS BEHIND HIM AFTER HE MADE 2 R TURNS AND FOR US TO CROSS THE RWY. WE DID NOT MOVE AND REALIZED HE WOULD EXIT AT TANGO. BEFORE WE COULD COMMENT, HE TURNED OFF AT TANGO AND WE WERE NOSE TO NOSE. BY NOW, ACR WAS ON GND CTL AND ASKED IF WE COULD PWR BACK SO HE COULD GET BY. WE COULDN'T DO THAT SINCE WE DID NOT HAVE A GND CREW. BY THIS TIME, GND CTL SOUNDED IRRITATED AND ASKED ACR TO TAXI AROUND US. WHILE THE TXWY WAS CLR AND DRY, THERE WAS HARD-PACKED SNOW AND ICE OVER 12 INCHES HIGH ON EITHER SIDE. HE ASKED GND IF HE WAS TO GO THROUGH THE SNOW. I DON'T RECALL GND'S RESPONSE, BUT ACR PROCEEDED TO PASS US ON THE L AND HIS ACFT BECAME STUCK IN THE SNOW. IT TOOK OVER 20 MINS BEFORE GND CREWS WERE ESCORTED OUT TO HELP REMEDY THE SIT. WITH WING WALKERS, WE WERE ABLE TO TAXI OUT. THIS SIT WAS TOTALLY AVOIDABLE. IT APPEARS ATC MADE AN ERROR IN CLRING THE ACR JET TO EXIT AT AN OCCUPIED TXWY. IN EITHER CASE, THE CLRNC SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED. THEN TO PASS US ON A TXWY WIDE ENOUGH FOR ONLY 1 ACFT MADE NO SENSE AT ALL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 264342: THE GND CTLR THEN CLRED US TO CROSS RWY 27R/9L AFTER A DC-9 WHO WOULD MAKE 2 R TURNS AFTER LNDG.
