Narrative:

On flight msp to dtw we had a passenger with a massive bladder attack and poor timing. Traffic was stacked up and we had a 20 min delay in taking off. We were cleared into position on the runway behind landing traffic and prepared for an immediate takeoff ahead of traffic on a 2 mi final approach. We had signaled the flight attendants that we were taking the active runway when a passenger, mr. X, bolted out of his seat and headed into the lavatory. Flight attendant asked him to return to his seat. He ignored her request. She then demanded he be seated. He still ignored her command. She promptly called the lead flight attendant who called us in the cockpit. We canceled our takeoff clearance and headed for the nearest exit, it was blocked by departing traffic. We then headed 2000 ft down the runway to the next turnoff. Traffic on final approach was closing in on our tail as we departed the runway an aircraft whizzing past our tail with precious few ft to spare. It was the quick thinking, and timing of our flight attendant that allowed me the time to clear the runway in time. Yes! The aircraft on final could have gone around, but he elected to land based on what he could see as we headed for the exit. The problem in clearing the runway was crusty ice around the edges. After we cleared the runway, I stopped the aircraft and checked with the lead flight attendant. The passenger returned to his seat and no further action appeared necessary. At our cruise altitude, I called the lead flight attendant to check if the passenger was still behaving. The report was that he smelled of alcohol, was loud, and when the flight attendant told the passenger the problem he had created he stated: 'what are they going to do call the police?' it was only a 1 hour flight and I did not have time to speak to the passenger in-flight. I did call dtw and ask them to have a supervisor meet the flight with a police backup. On the ground, the police boarded the flight and we all reviewed the whole flight problem with mr. X again. After 15 mins he finally said he was sorry and wanted to forget the whole affair. The police released him but advised him a report would be forwarded to the FAA.

WE WERE CLRED INTO POS ON THE RWY BEHIND LNDG TFC AND PREPARED FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF AHEAD OF TFC ON A 2 MI FINAL APCH. WE HAD SIGNALED THE FLT ATTENDANTS THAT WE WERE TAKING THE ACTIVE RWY WHEN A PAX, MR. X, BOLTED OUT OF HIS SEAT AND HEADED INTO THE LAVATORY. FLT ATTENDANT ASKED HIM TO RETURN TO HIS SEAT. HE IGNORED HER REQUEST. SHE THEN DEMANDED HE BE SEATED. HE STILL IGNORED HER COMMAND. SHE PROMPTLY CALLED THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT WHO CALLED US IN THE COCKPIT. WE CANCELED OUR TKOF CLRNC AND HEADED FOR THE NEAREST EXIT, IT WAS BLOCKED BY DEPARTING TFC. WE THEN HEADED 2000 FT DOWN THE RWY TO THE NEXT TURNOFF. TFC ON FINAL APCH WAS CLOSING IN ON OUR TAIL AS WE DEPARTED THE RWY AN ACFT WHIZZING PAST OUR TAIL WITH PRECIOUS FEW FT TO SPARE. IT WAS THE QUICK THINKING, AND TIMING OF OUR FLT ATTENDANT THAT ALLOWED ME THE TIME TO CLR THE RWY IN TIME. YES! THE ACFT ON FINAL COULD HAVE GONE AROUND, BUT HE ELECTED TO LAND BASED ON WHAT HE COULD SEE AS WE HEADED FOR THE EXIT. THE PROB IN CLRING THE RWY WAS CRUSTY ICE AROUND THE EDGES. AFTER WE CLRED THE RWY, I STOPPED THE ACFT AND CHKED WITH THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT. THE PAX RETURNED TO HIS SEAT AND NO FURTHER ACTION APPEARED NECESSARY. AT OUR CRUISE ALT, I CALLED THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT TO CHK IF THE PAX WAS STILL BEHAVING. THE RPT WAS THAT HE SMELLED OF ALCOHOL, WAS LOUD, AND WHEN THE FLT ATTENDANT TOLD THE PAX THE PROB HE HAD CREATED HE STATED: 'WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO CALL THE POLICE?' IT WAS ONLY A 1 HR FLT AND I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO SPEAK TO THE PAX INFLT. I DID CALL DTW AND ASK THEM TO HAVE A SUPVR MEET THE FLT WITH A POLICE BACKUP. ON THE GND, THE POLICE BOARDED THE FLT AND WE ALL REVIEWED THE WHOLE FLT PROB WITH MR. X AGAIN. AFTER 15 MINS HE FINALLY SAID HE WAS SORRY AND WANTED TO FORGET THE WHOLE AFFAIR. THE POLICE RELEASED HIM BUT ADVISED HIM A RPT WOULD BE FORWARDED TO THE FAA.
