Narrative:

WX in atl included good visibility, and very light northwest winds. We originally vectored for runway 27L. While on base leg, atl tower offered us the option of landing on runway 27R. After checking with first officer I accepted the clearance to land on runway 27R. While on final approach, I observed that the HSI wind arrow presentation was showing the presence of winds that were substantially different in direction and strength from the winds that had been previously reported. I then asked the tower for a wind check. Tower reported winds that were essentially the same as the previous report. I recall mentioning the wind report discrepancy to the first officer. The approach was conducted in accordance with company procedures. Final approach speed was approximately vref plus 10 KIAS. The landing flare appeared normal to me. The main gear touched down lightly. The spoilers, which had been armed, did not deploy. The nose then started coming up. I observed no unusual control inputs by the first officer. I was unsure whether or not the main gear had remained on the ground. I then commanded a go around. During this maneuver, I manually verified that the spoilers were down, while the first officer pushed up the throttles. The aircraft climbed normally. I asked tower for instructions. The tower then cleared us for a visual approach to runway 27R. We then came around, and conducted a normal landing on runway 27R. I felt no tail contact on either landing. I received no reports of any irregularities from passenger or flight attendants during deplaning. Supplemental information from acn 263977: a normal touchdown of the main landing gear was felt, but the aircraft then appeared to be flying back off the ground as if it had bounced. This was accompanied by an uncommanded rising of the nose. I then applied power and made a go around. I had no indication of damage, but the tail had scraped the runway.

Title: TAIL STRIKE ON LNDG OR DURING GAR.

Narrative: WX IN ATL INCLUDED GOOD VISIBILITY, AND VERY LIGHT NW WINDS. WE ORIGINALLY VECTORED FOR RWY 27L. WHILE ON BASE LEG, ATL TWR OFFERED US THE OPTION OF LNDG ON RWY 27R. AFTER CHKING WITH FO I ACCEPTED THE CLRNC TO LAND ON RWY 27R. WHILE ON FINAL APCH, I OBSERVED THAT THE HSI WIND ARROW PRESENTATION WAS SHOWING THE PRESENCE OF WINDS THAT WERE SUBSTANTIALLY DIFFERENT IN DIRECTION AND STRENGTH FROM THE WINDS THAT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY RPTED. I THEN ASKED THE TWR FOR A WIND CHK. TWR RPTED WINDS THAT WERE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME AS THE PREVIOUS RPT. I RECALL MENTIONING THE WIND RPT DISCREPANCY TO THE FO. THE APCH WAS CONDUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH COMPANY PROCS. FINAL APCH SPD WAS APPROX VREF PLUS 10 KIAS. THE LNDG FLARE APPEARED NORMAL TO ME. THE MAIN GEAR TOUCHED DOWN LIGHTLY. THE SPOILERS, WHICH HAD BEEN ARMED, DID NOT DEPLOY. THE NOSE THEN STARTED COMING UP. I OBSERVED NO UNUSUAL CTL INPUTS BY THE FO. I WAS UNSURE WHETHER OR NOT THE MAIN GEAR HAD REMAINED ON THE GND. I THEN COMMANDED A GAR. DURING THIS MANEUVER, I MANUALLY VERIFIED THAT THE SPOILERS WERE DOWN, WHILE THE FO PUSHED UP THE THROTTLES. THE ACFT CLBED NORMALLY. I ASKED TWR FOR INSTRUCTIONS. THE TWR THEN CLRED US FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 27R. WE THEN CAME AROUND, AND CONDUCTED A NORMAL LNDG ON RWY 27R. I FELT NO TAIL CONTACT ON EITHER LNDG. I RECEIVED NO RPTS OF ANY IRREGULARITIES FROM PAX OR FLT ATTENDANTS DURING DEPLANING. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 263977: A NORMAL TOUCHDOWN OF THE MAIN LNDG GEAR WAS FELT, BUT THE ACFT THEN APPEARED TO BE FLYING BACK OFF THE GND AS IF IT HAD BOUNCED. THIS WAS ACCOMPANIED BY AN UNCOMMANDED RISING OF THE NOSE. I THEN APPLIED PWR AND MADE A GAR. I HAD NO INDICATION OF DAMAGE, BUT THE TAIL HAD SCRAPED THE RWY.
