Narrative:

9 NM east of wheal IAF, hsv at 2800 ft MSL, encountered GPWS (too low terrain) warning. Climb initiated to 4000 ft MSL (MVA 2800 ft MSL) altitude and heading assigned by approach control. Remaining approach and landing uneventful. Approach control informed us that numerous similar occurrences have been recorded in the area and the cause is being investigated.
