Narrative:

Had been handed off to bur approach from lax approach. Bur wanted us to climb to 7000 ft. As we were climbing I noticed that the cabin was climbing uncommanded. The first officer only has about 70 hours in the plane and was evidently not very familiar with the cabin pressurizing controls. I was helping him get the cabin under control when we discovered I had climbed through 7000 ft to 8000 ft. We notified ATC and they told us to climb to 12000 ft. I only have 75 hours as captain in this plane. The combination of new captain and new first officer is not very safe in my opinion.
