Narrative:

While executing goofy STAR, approach control kept giving corrective headings after we had turned to 360 degrees heading at fix calling for this heading. This heading was specified at this fix when landing north (traffic was landing south). We were supposed to turn to 360 degrees at the next fix for south lndgs. The previous week the controller had verbally specified a heading at the 1ST fix. I was busy checking on a gate with company radio and did not double check the arrival procedure. My first officer was a bumped back captain who is very competent and I was lax in not double checking the procedure as I normally would. We had been cleared from our flight plan route direct to the fix in the STAR which caught us off guard. Getting ATIS and company information through ACARS would help on a short flight like this (fll-mco). The PNF is busy with too many things outside the cockpit.

Title: AN ACR TURNED TO A N HEADING AT THE WRONG FIX ON A STAR.

Narrative: WHILE EXECUTING GOOFY STAR, APCH CTL KEPT GIVING CORRECTIVE HDGS AFTER WE HAD TURNED TO 360 DEGS HDG AT FIX CALLING FOR THIS HDG. THIS HDG WAS SPECIFIED AT THIS FIX WHEN LNDG N (TFC WAS LNDG S). WE WERE SUPPOSED TO TURN TO 360 DEGS AT THE NEXT FIX FOR S LNDGS. THE PREVIOUS WK THE CTLR HAD VERBALLY SPECIFIED A HDG AT THE 1ST FIX. I WAS BUSY CHKING ON A GATE WITH COMPANY RADIO AND DID NOT DOUBLE CHK THE ARR PROC. MY FO WAS A BUMPED BACK CAPT WHO IS VERY COMPETENT AND I WAS LAX IN NOT DOUBLE CHKING THE PROCEDURE AS I NORMALLY WOULD. WE HAD BEEN CLRED FROM OUR FLT PLAN RTE DIRECT TO THE FIX IN THE STAR WHICH CAUGHT US OFF GUARD. GETTING ATIS AND COMPANY INFO THROUGH ACARS WOULD HELP ON A SHORT FLT LIKE THIS (FLL-MCO). THE PNF IS BUSY WITH TOO MANY THINGS OUTSIDE THE COCKPIT.
