Narrative:

On dec/thu/93 scheduling informed me that I had the following schedule: jan/94 M - scheduled to fly 6:05 mins beginning at XF40 am, release XO15 pm. Jan/94 T - scheduled to fly 6:40 mins, then travel from sea to rno. Jan/94 west - scheduled for ground school XI00 am to XQ00 pm. Jan/94 th - scheduled for ground school XH30 am to XQ00 pm. Jan/94 F - scheduled for ground school XH30 am to XQ00 pm, then fly rno to sea. Jan/94 south - scheduled to travel from sea to mia. Jan/94 south - scheduled for simulator training and check ride XH45 am to X500 pm. Jan/94 M - scheduled to travel rom mia to sea. Jan/94 T - off. Jan/94 west, th, F, south, south - scheduled to fly every day (5 days). I spoke with scheduling on jan/sat and indicated that I thought this schedule violated 121.471 paragraph D, which requires a 24 hour rest period in any 7 consecutive days. I was told by the head of the scheduling department that this did not apply when you received 24 hours off prior to flying again. I was told that this had come up previously and management was in complete agreement with this scheduling policy. I finally reached our poi on tues. Jan/wed he indicated that he felt the schedule was a violation of 121.471. On jan/thu I spoke with the chief pilot. He became very angry that I had asked the FAA for an interpretation on this matter. He stated that our poi was notorious for wrong information and that was the case here. I continued to follow the schedule, but on jan/fri again called scheduling and asked if they could make an adjustment to the schedule that would provide the needed 24 hours free of duty. On jan/sat I again spoke with the chief pilot and was told that he had discussed the matter with our poi the chief pilot stated that our poi. Had misunderstood my question and was in complete agreement with him regarding the legality of the schedule. Based on this information and the fact that I felt that I was on the verge of losing my job, I followed the rest of the schedule. I still question the legality of this schedule.
