Narrative:

En route from sea to nrt we decided to divert to anc because we were burning over our flight plan. To land at anc, we had to dump fuel. We forgot to inform ATC. After completion of flight, the next day we checked our company manual and found out we were supposed to notify ATC. I think the situation occurs because of the frequency with which we practice high weight takeoffs with loss of engine, therefore calling for fuel dumping. It becomes natural without thinking of center. Maybe they could put warning on dump panels.
