Narrative:

First officer flew approach and made landing on runway 28R. We had briefed for the high speed turnoff as this was closest to our assigned gate. As aircraft slowed to taxi speed, I took control for taxi and first officer had the radios. Tower initially said continue to kilo and hold short of runway 28L. I told first officer to ask for next left (delta) as this was closer to our gate. First officer asked and tower responded left on delta, cleared to cross ground 21.8 on other side. First officer read back cleared to cross. Aircraft was halfway across runway 28L when tower said you are holding short of runway 28L? First officer responded negative, you cleared us to cross and I read back cleared to cross.' as we were clearing the runway a company aircraft on short final for runway 28L was sent around even though there was no conflict. Ground control cleared us to the gate with no further comment.

Narrative: FO FLEW APCH AND MADE LNDG ON RWY 28R. WE HAD BRIEFED FOR THE HIGH SPD TURNOFF AS THIS WAS CLOSEST TO OUR ASSIGNED GATE. I TOLD FO TO ASK FOR NEXT L (DELTA) AS THIS WAS CLOSER TO OUR GATE. FO ASKED AND TWR RESPONDED L ON DELTA, CLRED TO CROSS GND 21.8 ON OTHER SIDE. FO READ BACK CLRED TO CROSS. ACFT WAS HALFWAY ACROSS RWY 28L WHEN TWR SAID YOU ARE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 28L? FO RESPONDED NEGATIVE, YOU CLRED US TO CROSS AND I READ BACK CLRED TO CROSS.' AS WE WERE CLRING THE RWY A COMPANY ACFT ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 28L WAS SENT AROUND EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO CONFLICT. GND CTL CLRED US TO THE GATE WITH NO FURTHER COMMENT.
