Narrative:
I was flying a cross country flight with a student from stc-axn- brd-stc. En route, I told him to find 9y2. This airport is marked as a public, other than hard surface airport on the sectional. The student found the airport and I decided it would be a good time to practice a soft field landing. I have landed at the airport during the summer before. After touchdown everything seemed normal until we slowed down and then the wheels sank into the snow and brought us to a stop. No damage occurred and we were unable to fly the aircraft out due to the drag from the snow. I found out later the airport is not maintained in the winter.

Title: DURING A DUAL XCOUNTRY, INSTRUCTOR LANDED ON A CLOSED ARPT AND BECOMES STRANDED IN THE SNOW WITH THE STUDENT.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING A XCOUNTRY FLT WITH A STUDENT FROM STC-AXN- BRD-STC. ENRTE, I TOLD HIM TO FIND 9Y2. THIS ARPT IS MARKED AS A PUBLIC, OTHER THAN HARD SURFACE ARPT ON THE SECTIONAL. THE STUDENT FOUND THE ARPT AND I DECIDED IT WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO PRACTICE A SOFT FIELD LNDG. I HAVE LANDED AT THE ARPT DURING THE SUMMER BEFORE. AFTER TOUCHDOWN EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL UNTIL WE SLOWED DOWN AND THEN THE WHEELS SANK INTO THE SNOW AND BROUGHT US TO A STOP. NO DAMAGE OCCURRED AND WE WERE UNABLE TO FLY THE ACFT OUT DUE TO THE DRAG FROM THE SNOW. I FOUND OUT LATER THE ARPT IS NOT MAINTAINED IN THE WINTER.
