Narrative:
While descending from FL390 through FL380 'left engine overheat' message displayed. Within 20 seconds 'left engine fire' warning message and aural alarm displayed and sounded. I accomplished the 'engine fire and shutdown' procedure. After 30 seconds, warning was still displayed. I discharged the 'left fire bottle.' overheat and fire light extinguished at 25 seconds. I declared emergency with the center and landed at las without incident.

Title: AN ACR LGT SHUT DOWN AN ENG AFTER A FIRE.
Narrative: WHILE DSNDING FROM FL390 THROUGH FL380 'L ENG OVERHEAT' MESSAGE DISPLAYED. WITHIN 20 SECONDS 'L ENG FIRE' WARNING MESSAGE AND AURAL ALARM DISPLAYED AND SOUNDED. I ACCOMPLISHED THE 'ENG FIRE AND SHUTDOWN' PROC. AFTER 30 SECONDS, WARNING WAS STILL DISPLAYED. I DISCHARGED THE 'L FIRE BOTTLE.' OVERHEAT AND FIRE LIGHT EXTINGUISHED AT 25 SECONDS. I DECLARED EMER WITH THE CTR AND LANDED AT LAS WITHOUT INCIDENT.
