Narrative:

Small transport was en route to peoria, il. Pilot discovered he was unable to switch fuel tanks. The fuel transfer switch broke. He requested closest airport and was vectored to mhe, sd. Aircraft ran out of gas in tank 1 and lost power and crashed 3 southwest mhe. 2 passenger on board, both all right. Aircraft landed in plowed field and crashed through a fence. Sheriff department found aircraft. Supplemental information from acn 257592: small transport came on my frequency at 15000 ft. Advised me of a fuel problem and I suggested the nearest airport, mhe, sd, and gave approximately position of mhe VOR and advised it was a major airport. Small transport requested to mhe and I cleared him there and gave mhe altimeter. Then called sector 33 and told controller craft would be descending to 7000 ft and 030 initial vector for mhe, sd, and released control. Cleared plane on 030 heading and shipped to sector 33.
