Narrative:

Operating 121 air carrier into ord airport. WX 16 overcast, wind 280/05. Vectored runway 27. 15-17 mi out on final, slowed to 140 KTS. Selected flaps 25 degrees. Proceeded inbound and broke out of overcast. TA TCASII warning at 1 O'clock constantly below 1000 ft. GPWS came on constantly. Landing checklist delayed, missed approach executed. Subsequent landing ok. Recommend that GPWS warnings (aural) be reprogrammed to state the intentions logic of that mode instead of a catch all warning of 'terrain, terrain' i.e., flaps, gear. Recommend that TCASII inside TCA be muted so as not to create more distrs.
