Narrative:

On climb out at 6000 ft, crew heard a single 'pop' sound come from #2 engine. Instruments 'bumped' but stayed normal range. Climb to cruise was continued. During descent, #2 engine 'popped' again and instruments showed #2 N1 and N2 RPM decreasing with #2 egt rapidly increasing. 'Engine fire, severe damage' emergency checklist was completed. An uneventful single engine approach and landing was executed into mdt. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter advised no fire evident in the engine. Failure caused by turbine blade. Refused to give any further information over the phone.
