Narrative:

Problem arose while landing at uncontrolled airport. Circled the field to check the wind. Engaged landing gear lever on downwind. Lever snapped into the landing gear down neutral position. Put flaps half down on base. Rolled onto final. (I thought I had 3 green lights.) just before touchdown heard a horn and glanced down. Landing gear lever was down and I thought I had 3 green lights and assumed the horn was the stall warning -- it wasn't. Contributing factors were turbulence and wind shear. Previous, landing made 40 mins earlier, 40 mi away, the wind was 22 KTS gusting to 35. Unable to raise anyone on unicom and was concerned about crosswind, wind velocity and wind shear. At the time estimated wind to be 15-20 KTS with 30 degrees crosswind and gusty. Other contributing factors were what I perceived to be the faint odor of something burning in the patterns at tucson and nogales. Another factor: sun was flooding the cockpit making everything seem brighter than usual. I was distracted by things outside the cockpit. I should have circled the field again and set up to give myself more time to go over the checklist prior to landing.

Title: CORPORATE PLT LANDS GEAR UP.

Narrative: PROB AROSE WHILE LNDG AT UNCTLED ARPT. CIRCLED THE FIELD TO CHK THE WIND. ENGAGED LNDG GEAR LEVER ON DOWNWIND. LEVER SNAPPED INTO THE LNDG GEAR DOWN NEUTRAL POS. PUT FLAPS HALF DOWN ON BASE. ROLLED ONTO FINAL. (I THOUGHT I HAD 3 GREEN LIGHTS.) JUST BEFORE TOUCHDOWN HEARD A HORN AND GLANCED DOWN. LNDG GEAR LEVER WAS DOWN AND I THOUGHT I HAD 3 GREEN LIGHTS AND ASSUMED THE HORN WAS THE STALL WARNING -- IT WASN'T. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE TURB AND WIND SHEAR. PREVIOUS, LNDG MADE 40 MINS EARLIER, 40 MI AWAY, THE WIND WAS 22 KTS GUSTING TO 35. UNABLE TO RAISE ANYONE ON UNICOM AND WAS CONCERNED ABOUT XWIND, WIND VELOCITY AND WIND SHEAR. AT THE TIME ESTIMATED WIND TO BE 15-20 KTS WITH 30 DEGS XWIND AND GUSTY. I SHOULD HAVE CIRCLED THE FIELD AGAIN AND SET UP TO GIVE MYSELF MORE TIME TO GO OVER THE CHKLIST PRIOR TO LNDG.
