Narrative:

While in VFR cruise flight with autoplt and altitude hold engaged, and altimeter set to jacksonville's barometric pressure, at 9500 ft MSL, squawking 1200 mode C, on a heading of 005 degrees nebound, while scanning, an light transport appeared sebound at 1 O'clock descending. When it appeared we were on a collision course, I immediately executed a climbing left turn to 10500 ft MSL. The light transport passed underneath and shortly thereafter was heard telling ZJX they would like to report a near midair. I had been monitoring the ZJX frequency for that sector 124.4 and was never called as traffic to the light transport which I assume was descending on an IFR flight plan in VMC. Apparently only 2 of the 6 eyes were focused outside the aircraft and belonged to the VFR pilot.

Title: SMA HAS NMAC WITH LTT.

Narrative: WHILE IN VFR CRUISE FLT WITH AUTOPLT AND ALT HOLD ENGAGED, AND ALTIMETER SET TO JACKSONVILLE'S BAROMETRIC PRESSURE, AT 9500 FT MSL, SQUAWKING 1200 MODE C, ON A HDG OF 005 DEGS NEBOUND, WHILE SCANNING, AN LTT APPEARED SEBOUND AT 1 O'CLOCK DSNDING. WHEN IT APPEARED WE WERE ON A COLLISION COURSE, I IMMEDIATELY EXECUTED A CLBING L TURN TO 10500 FT MSL. THE LTT PASSED UNDERNEATH AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER WAS HEARD TELLING ZJX THEY WOULD LIKE TO RPT A NEAR MIDAIR. I HAD BEEN MONITORING THE ZJX FREQ FOR THAT SECTOR 124.4 AND WAS NEVER CALLED AS TFC TO THE LTT WHICH I ASSUME WAS DSNDING ON AN IFR FLT PLAN IN VMC. APPARENTLY ONLY 2 OF THE 6 EYES WERE FOCUSED OUTSIDE THE ACFT AND BELONGED TO THE VFR PLT.
