Narrative:

Captain called flight dispatch overhead columbus, oh, and advised dispatch that while 1 generator was placarded, the APU had just shut down to make a 1-GENERATOR operation. He asked what I would like him to do. I suggested landing at the nearest suitable airport which was pittsburgh. He asked wouldn't his destination of iad be just as good since it was VFR (pit was also VFR). I said from my understanding he needed to land pit. After that, I lost radio contact. I sent him an ACARS message asking his intentions. However, I did not receive reply. Flight landed at destination washington dulles without incident.
